Ethan hates hats, but this month at his preschool they're learning about the body and for "brain day" they were supposed to wear hats. (I guess cause they protect the head which is where the brain is?) He looked so cute and grownup in his hat.

Hat Day
Ethan hates hats, but this month at his preschool they're learning about the body and for "brain day" they were supposed to wear hats. (I guess cause they protect the head which is where the brain is?) He looked so cute and grownup in his hat.
My baby is 1!!!
California!
Adam and I took a kid-less trip to California a few weeks ago. We left the boys home with Grandma Karon, who is so patient, sweet, and wonderful to watch them for 4 days because they are both really big momma's boys and had a hard time being apart from us. We went on the trip with Adam's cousin Katie and her husband Stephenson, and Adam's other cousin Lauren and her husband Casey. We spent the whole first day in Disneyland and California Adventure. We were gonna go there for 2 days, but there were NO lines at all, so we got it all done in one day. It was so much fun! The next day we went to Hollywood and saw all the famous sights. Like true tourists, we bough a "Map of the Stars" and drove by all sorts of famous people's homes. Unfortunately, by this day in the trip I realized I'd caught Ethan's strep throat he'd had the week before. So we spent half the day trying to track down an Urgent Care, getting a prescription filled, etc. I had a 103 degree temp and was feeling pretty crappy, but it was a little exciting to go to a doctor on Sunset Blvd. about a block from Tom Cruise's house. Katie, Lauren, Stephenson, Casey, and Adam were so nice and patient with me for wasting half their day at the doctor's office. That night we went and saw The Kodak Theater (home to the Oscars). The next day, my birthday, we headed to Vegas! We stayed in an amazing new hotel called the Pallazzo and ate at an amazing restaurant called Tao. The next day we shopped and saw all the sights of Vegas and headed home. Such a fun trip, but it was nice to see my boys again.

My fave ride, Haunted Mansion!

My baby looks like a boy again!
Austin's hair has been getting pretty long. It curled around his ears and neck, but Adam and I just couldn't bring ourselves to cut it. Finally, we decided it was just getting too out of control and a little girly, so we took him to a cute place called Cookie Cutters. The kids sit in little cars, trucks, and airplanes to get their hair cut. They have a big slide in the waiting room, which kept Ethan entertained. Austin sobbed through the haircut, since he doesn't like strangers even looking at him, let alone cutting his hair. But he sure looked cute and grownup when he was all done.

Before the haircut

As the haircut began, he was momentarily distracted by the sucker...

But that didn't last long.

After the haircut. No more wings!

Finally blogging again
It has been about 3 months since I blogged. I guess it was a combination of the holidays and my dial-up internet that prevented me. But for Christmas we got a new computer and fast internet, so I'm back!!
Too much has happened to update on EVERYTHING, so I'll just do a couple.
First of all.. Christmas! It was Austin's first Christmas. We went to the Winn's Christmas Eve to talk to his brother Landon calling from the Phillippines on his church mission. That night we went to my parent's house and spent the night there. Ethan was so excited he could barely sleep. The boys got sooooo many presents! Ethan got a bike, scooter, wooden train set and table, kiddie computer, and more. Austin got tons of fun toys and clothes. My Aunt Linda came to town Christmas day, which was a lot of fun. Adam's mom came down with the stomach flu Christmas morning, so we weren't able to go back to there house that day. :(

Austin Christmas morning

The only present Ethan asked for, his Thomas the Train slide. We had to give it to him first thing Christmas morning because every present he opened, he kept asking where his Thomas slide was.

Adam's parent's gave Ethan what turned out to be his favorite present of all... a big box of fruit snacks from Costco. Look at his face, it says it all. Who knew we could've just spent $7 and he'd be this happy?
