First Fieldtrip

I got to go with Ethan's preschool class on a fieldtrip to a local museum. Since the museum was down the street from his school, we walked there. When we were done there, we walked to a local park and had popsicles. Then we went back to the class for singing time, which was hilarious to watch.

NYC

I took a girls trip to NYC this past weekend. I went with my sister and my mom and we met up with my sister's roommate, Krista and her mom, some of her aunts, and cousins.
We were there for 4 days and had so much fun. We did a little of everything: Times Square, shopping on Canal Street, China Town, Battery Park and Statue of Liberty, Rockefeller Center, Central Park, Museum of Natural History, saw Wicked, and of course lots of eating. We walked SO much and were exhausted and sore by the end of each day. Unfortunately, it rained a lot, but we still were able to see a lot. And of course, I need to give a big thank you to Adam for taking some time off work to stay home with Ethan and Austin while I was off in New York, and a big thank you to Adam's parents for taking the kids for a couple days.

We saw Wicked! It was awesome! And if my stomach looks a little big in these pictures, for those of you who don't know, I'm pregnant (15 weeks!)!

On our last day it rained a lot. We took the subway down to Battery Park in hopes that maybe the rain would clear up and we'd be able to see the Statue of Liberty. But as you can tell from this picture, you can BARELY see it (it's to the right of me in the picture)

Snow?? Really??

Utah always had unpredictable springs, but when we woke up to 6 inches of snow this morning, I was ready to pack up and move! It made me miss growing up in Georgia where in snows maybe 1 or 2 times a year, and in the spring, it's warm and our Azalea bushes would already be blooming by now. But the boys were delighted to see snow again, so we headed out for some fun. I pulled the boys all over the backyard on the sled. We also had a snowball fight and built a little snowman and built some ramps to take the sled on. Austin didn't last long. He refuses to wear gloves, or even a hat. Plus, he will not walk in the snow, he has to either be held or be sitting on the sled. So he went inside and ate goldfish crackers while Ethan and I played some more. It was fun, but I sure hope it's the last snow of the season.

Here's my tulips trying to bloom, only to be covered in a layer of snow.

Easter!

We had such a nice Easter this year. It was a little cold, but sunny and beautiful. The boys were finally both old enough to understand what was going on, so they had lots of fun Easter morning. We always hide their baskets, so first they had to find them. Once they found them, they went on a hunt for all their eggs and goodies. Austin would find a piece of candy and just sit down and start eating instead of finding more eggs. So Ethan would run and find eggs and throw them in Austin's basket for him.
The boys looked so cute in their new clothes for church. Ethan's beautiful linen suit already has grass stains on the knees, typical boy. We ate a delicious dinner that night at the Winn's.

Ethan got a big golf club and balls (so that Adam can have a new golfing partner a few years down the line) and some squirt guns (which we've already gone outside and used, despite the cold weather. Notice how Ethan is wearing Halloween pj's and Austin's wearing Christmas pj's? Not very Eastery, but those were what they picked out the night before...

Austin got a wagon that he's been pulling all around the house ever since.

Winn Easter Egg Hunt

Adam's parents planned an Easter Egg hunt for their grandkids Saturday. Since the weather was cold and rainy, we had to have the festivities inside. First we ate Papa Murphy's Pizza (Ethan's fave). Then we headed to the basement to see what the Easter Bunny had left. The boys got tons of candy, some money, some toys, and new spring outfits. Next we dyed Easter eggs. Austin didn't get a nap, so he was grumpy and wanted nothing to do with dying Easter eggs. Ethan and Nick had a grand time dying them and covering them in stickers. Thanks for all the fun, Grandma and Grandpa Winn!

Whenever I try to get the boys to hug or pose for a picture together, it usually ends with them pulling eachother to the floor and wrestling. Boys will be boys.

Fire Station and McDonalds

This week, Austin and Ethan got to go on a tour of the fire station with a group of kids from church. They first watched a video inside the fire station, then one of the firemen talked about fire saftey. Then we got to go outside and see all their fire trucks. Ethan sat inside one of them, but Austin was too scared. Then the firemen gave each child a sucker and their own fire hat.

After we finished at the firestation, we went with some friends to McDonalds for lunch to celebrate Ethan's friend Cohen's 4th birthday.

Easter Egg Hunt

We went to our annual neighborhood Easter egg hunt this past Saturday. It's been freezing and snowy here for the past week or so, but we got really lucky and had sun and (kind of) warm weather that day. There were tons of kids there this year, but the boys still got a lot of candy. Austin found a sucker on the ground right when the hunt started, so he picked it up, opened it, put his basket down and just enjoyed the sucker instead of looking for more candy. So I had to look around and pick up a few pieces for him. Ethan had so much fun and asks me every day how many more days until the real Easter so he can find more candy. Unfortunately for him, most Easter candy either has peanuts/nuts in it or is cross-contaminated for peanuts/nuts, so Adam and I got to eat all his nutty candy. I bought him some candy from the store that I knew was safe so he still has tons of candy.

Disney on Ice

Adam has been in Las Vegas for the Mountain West Conference basketball tournament this weekend, so my mom and I took Ethan and Austin to see Disney on Ice yesterday. I was hesitant to bring Austin since he's so young, but he actually ended up enjoying it much more than Ethan did. Austin sat perfectly still in Grandma's lap and watched the whole thing. He clapped, snapped his fingers, and danced throughout the whole thing. Ethan enjoyed it, but he has a pretty short attention span for stuff like that. He kept telling me he wanted to go down and walk on the ice, and everytime the crocodile that was trying to eat Captain Hook came on the ice, Ethan would tell me what he would do if the crocodile came up into the stands and attacked him ("I would hit him! I would grab him and throw him!"). Overall it was a lot of fun; nothing like paying $10 for cotton candy
